CHICAGO – DePaul University’s annual Alumni and Family Weekend is set for Oct. 14-17 and among the many events scheduled around campus are various athletics events. Highlighting the athletics portion of the weekend is Basketball Fan Day on Saturday, Oct. 16 at McGrath-Phillips Arena. The weekend opens on Oct. 14 with a virtual Conversation with DePaul Athletics and also includes ticket discounts for women’s soccer and volleyball matches in Lincoln Park.
Conversation with DePaul Athletics – Thursday, Oct. 14 (Noon-1 p.m.) – Zoom
Join the DePaul alumni community and fellow Blue Demon fans to tip off Alumni & Family Weekend with an update from Vice President and Director of Athletics DeWayne Peevy, and a preview of the 2021-22 basketball seasons from Head Women’s Basketball Coach Doug Bruno and new Head Men’s Basketball Coach Tony Stubblefield. Alumna and YES Network’s lead Brooklyn Nets game analyst, Sarah Kustok, CMN’10, will serve as the moderator for the event. Learn more about DePaul Athletics’ plans to welcome alumni, students and fans back to events for the upcoming season. Questions from the audience will be posed toward the end of the event. Registration is required for the free event on Zoom.
Basketball Fan Day – Saturday, Oct. 16 (10 a.m.-1 p.m.) – McGrath-Phillips Arena
Fan Day gives fans, alumni and families the opportunity to get an early look at the 2021-22 men’s and women’s basketball teams. The event is free and open to the public starting at 10 a.m.
New men’s basketball coach Tony Stubblefield and his team will kick off the event with an open practice followed by an autograph session with both teams before Doug Bruno and the women’s team take the court at Noon.
The north court will be full of activities throughout the event including a rummage sale, DIBS appearances and photo opportunities. Kids in sixth grade and under can stop by the DIBS Kids Club information table to receive a free facemask. The concession stand will also be open to purchase food and drinks.
