Uefa signs Sportradar as Champions League’s first exclusive betting data partner – SportsPro – SportsPro Media

  • Deal includes integrity element for length of contract
  • Sportradar expands soccer portfolio, which also includes Fifa, AFC and Conmebol

Uefa, European soccer’s governing body, has struck its first exclusive gambling data partnership, signing a three-year deal with Switzerland-based sports technology company Sportradar.

The agreement, which will run until the end of the 2023/24 season, will see Sportradar serve as Uefa’s exclusive authorised collector and distributor of data for betting purposes. The sports betting data and broadcast solutions provider has also extended its role as Uefa’s official integrity partner.

The arrangement covers 1,550 matches over the course of its run and includes all Uefa properties, including national team tournaments such as Uefa Women’s Euro 2022, Uefa Euro 2024 and the Uefa Nations League, as well as club competitions the Uefa Champions League and the Uefa Europa League.

The extension of Uefa and Sportradar’s integrity partnership, which goes back 12 years, now includes dedicated intelligence and investigation services to support Uefa’s anti match-fixing unit. Sportradar will also continue to provide the organisation with its bet monitoring services to protect the integrity of Uefa and its member associations’ competitions to safeguard the sport from match fixing activities.

The deals adds to Sportradar’s extensive partnership portfolio, which includes tie-ups with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and South America’s Conmebol, as well as global governing body Fifa. Away from soccer, Sportradar has partnerships with the likes of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the National Hockey League (NHL), Major League Baseball (MLB) and Nascar. The company currently covers more than 750,000 events annually across 83 sports.

Carsten Koerl, chief executive of Sportradar, said: “Sportradar has more than 20 years’ experience collecting and building valuable products from football match data, and now, as the world’s leading sports technology company, we’re the only organisation with the technological capabilities and unique resources to truly support the growth of one of the biggest federations in global sport.”

Guy-Laurent Epstein, Uefa marketing director, added: “We are very happy to enter into this partnership with Sportradar, who are a global leader in delivering sports data. It follows a long-standing partnership with the company as our official integrity partner and it links to our recent announcement of Bwin as the first betting partner for one of our competitions.

“The combination of the two partnerships allows Uefa to engage more openly with the sports betting sector, giving greater access to market intelligence and support from both a sports integrity and a commercial perspective.”
