Champions League picks for PSV Eindhoven vs. Benfica

Before you tune in to Tuesday’s Champions League play-off, you need to see the UEFA Champions League picks from European soccer insider Martin Green. After working in the sports betting industry for several years, Green became a professional sports writer and handicapper and has covered the game worldwide. Since then, his European soccer picks have been spot-on. Green has generated over $36,000 for $100 bettors since the 2017-18 season, and he has his finger on the pulse of the game all over the globe.

For PSV Eindhoven vs. Benfica, Green is backing both teams to score at -137 odds. Both of these teams are off to fast starts this season and feature explosive offenses. Benfica has scored two goals in each of its last six games across all competitions. PSV, meanwhile, has scored two or more goals in six of its last eight fixtures, which includes a four-goal outburst against Cambuur last Saturday.

PSV recorded 25 shots in its home victory over Cambuur in the Eredivisie on Saturday, and Roger Schmidt’s side will be pressing forward in hopes of advancing to the Champions League group stage. Benfica will look to hold its shape and use the counterattack to put the game out of reach. The Portuguese side used similar tactics in its 2-1 victory over PSV last week, as Benfica finished with just 39 percent of possession.

“It is easy to see the Dutch team scoring against a slightly creaking Benfica defense, as striker Eran Zahavi is in great form and Cody Gakpo is very talented,” Green told SportsLine. “However, Benfica is also blessed with a great deal of creativity and firepower in attack, so it should unlock PSV’s leaky defense once again.”
