Michigan State Men’s Basketball: Official 2021-’22 Schedule Released – The Only Colors

It is finally here! The Michigan State Spartans men’s basketball schedule for the 2021-2022 season has officially been released in its entirety. The 31-game schedule includes three teams from Michigan in the non-conference, and one from a city that some might consider part of Michigan when ignoring crooked border swap deals made by President Andrew Jackson (Toledo). Also on the schedule is a visit from High Point, who is now coached by former Kentucky and Minnesota head coach Tubby Smith.

Retiring Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski was apparently not true to his word, as he will not be bothering to honor his agreement to play a game at Michigan State this season — his final one as head coach of the Blue Devils — after the Spartans relocated the Champions Classic matchup to playing in Cameron Indoor Stadium Duke last year.

-Exhibition Games:

  • Oct. 27: Ferris State
  • Nov. 4: Grand Valley State

Non-Conference Schedule:

The pairings for the conference season were announced back in May. However, we now have the full 20-game Big Ten league schedule schedule available.

-Conference Schedule:

  • Dec. 8 – at Minnesota
  • Dec. 11 – Penn State
  • Jan. 2 – at Northwestern
  • Jan. 5 – Nebraska
  • Jan. 8 – at Michigan
  • Jan. 12 – Minnesota
  • Jan. 15 – Northwestern
  • Jan. 21 – at Wisconsin
  • Jan. 25 – at Illinois
  • Jan. 29 – Michigan
  • Feb. 1 – at Maryland
  • Feb. 5 – at Rutgers
  • Feb. 8 – Wisconsin
  • Feb. 12 – Indiana
  • Feb. 15 – at Penn State
  • Feb. 19 – Illinois
  • Feb. 22 – at Iowa
  • Feb. 26 – Purdue
  • March 3 – at Ohio State
  • March 6 – Maryland

The Spartans have a relatively easy opening in conference play, but, man, that stretch from Jan. 8 to Feb. 8 is just absolutely brutal. The non-conference schedule, as always, is going to be tough, but fun to watch. What games are you most excited for?
