In the 2022 NCAA Basketball recruiting class, Daniel Skillings of Roman Catholic High School has been a big riser of the past few months. The 6’5 scoring machine from Philadelphia is a quality offensive weapon, capable of playing both the shooting guard and small forward spots due to his size and athleticism.

Skillings has seen his stock rise as of late due to his all-around game improving, making him a viable power conference performer. And that’s who has been in the mix as of late in his recruitment, with programs from the ACC, Big Ten, and SEC involved.

A few weeks ago, Skillings had a top-10 list out. And now recently, that has been cut to just five, as Pittsburgh, Miami, NC State, Virginia Tech, and Cincinnati are now left.

Is the top-100 guard prospect set to be an ACC player in the future? Or will the future Big 12 program in the Bearcats land an important class of 2022 target? Here’s a closer look at what each team has to offer.

The Bearcats are now without leading scoring guard Keith Williams, which leaves a core of upperclassmen guards that’ll be leading the way for the next couple of years. That includes Mika Adams-Woods, Jeremiah Davenport, and David Dejulius, solid players but guys that have limited offensive ceilings.

Going from the AAC to the Big 12 is a major upgrade for Cincy’s basketball program. But their recruiting under new head coach Wes Miller will have to upgrade itself and a top-100 guard such as Skillings would be a great pickup. If he’s willing to play a year in the AAC as a freshman, this Phily-area recruit could be playing the likes of Kansas and Baylor in the near future.
