UEFA qualifiers, scores: France drop points to Ukraine as road to World Cup gets bumpier; Netherlands win big – CBS Sports

The second round of 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers took place on Saturday and once again threw up interesting results with France being held to a draw and Netherlands and Israel racking up big scores.

The world champions drew 1-1 Ukraine while the Dutch were 4-0 winners over Montenegro and the Israelis thumped Austria 5-2.

Other notable results included Serbia’s 4-1 win over Luxembourg, Norway beating Latvia 2-0 away, Turkey running out 3-0 winners over Gibraltar and Russia triumphing 2-0 in Cyprus. Here are Saturday’s complete results:

UEFA World Cup qualifying

  • Group D: Finland 1, Kazakhstan 0
  • Group A: Ireland 1, Azerbaijan 1
  • Group G: Latvia 0, Norway 2
  • Group A: Serbia 4, Luxembourg 1
  • Group H: Cyprus 0, Russia 2
  • Group H: Slovenia 1, Malta 0
  • Group G: Netherlands 4, Montenegro 0
  • Group F: Faroe Islands 0, Denmark 1
  • Group G: Gibraltar 0, Turkey 3
  • Group D: Ukraine 1, France 1
  • Group F: Israel 5, Austria 2
  • Group H: Slovakia 0, Croatia 1
  • Group F: Scotland 1, Moldova 0

For Les Bleus, a second half Anthony Martial equalizer was needed after Mykola Shaparenko gave the hosts the lead in Kyiv, but Didier Deschamps’ men still look far off their 2018 pace in Group D.

Memphis Depay was on target twice for the Dutch as they eased to victory with Georginio Wijanldium and Cody Gakpo also scoring in Group G.

Meanwhile, Eran Zahavi found the back of the net twice as the Austrians were put to the sword in Group F.

Aleksandar Mitrovic was on target twice as the Serbians re-took top spot in Group A while Erling Haaland tallied once in Group G and Turkey had three second half scorers in the same group.

In Group H, Russia won by two goals while Croatia ran out 1-0 winners away at Slovakia with the pair level on points so far.

Finland, Denmark, Scotland and Slovenia also won on the day,
