Class of 2022 4-star Jaden Schutt commits to Duke men’s basketball – Duke Chronicle

The recruits just keep coming for head-coach-in-waiting Jon Scheyer.

Four-star shooting guard Jaden Schutt announced he is coming to Duke, first reported by Joe Tipton Of On3Sports and confirmed with a tweet from Schutt’s Twitter minutes after. He is the No. 1 recruit in the state of Illinois and the No. 47 overall recruit on ESPN’s top 100.

Schutt visited Duke this past weekend and from the timing of the announcement, it looks like he enjoyed his stay. And fellow 2022 recruit Kyle Filipowski was quick to point it out on his own Twitter.

Schutt, true to the nature of being a highly-ranked shooting guard, has a smooth stroke. He can create offense off the dribble, and has shown the ability to move off the ball with his catch-and-shoot game. His high school stats reflect his developed offensive tool bag too, with the 6-foot-4 shooter averaging over 20 points in both his sophomore and junior seasons.

One thing that especially stood out about Schutt from the film is the tenacity with which he plays with. Schutt’s not afraid to run the floor for a chase down block, and he’s willing to take some contact on his way to the rim.

Schutt is the first guard to commit to Scheyer, and it goes without saying that it will be interesting to see how Scheyer passes on his oodles of basketball knowledge, specifically about being a guard, to Schutt upon his arrival in Durham.

Scheyer doesn’t look to be done on the recruiting trail yet either, as Duke is still very much in the conversation for at least Dereck Lively II and Mark Mitchell. Mitchell’s future looks to be Duke blue too, according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions
